Error 0x800ccc90 using MS Outlook 2000

I have been using Outlook Express for e-mails, and am trying to use Outlook from Office 2000 instead. Although there are items in the OE Inbox waiting to open (and can be opened by OE), Outlook does not find them, but produces this error.
The POP3 server responded with an error -- server response '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server cannot conect to the mail server' (Account'tiscali', POP3 Server: 'tiscali' error No ox800ccc90)

Outlook does open Internet Explorer and Firefox OK. I am using Windows XP (SP3), Tiscali Broadband and a Router with a LAN to another computer.

i think this is down to your avg email be certain you could disable the email scanner in avg and see if that stops your problem.a google of "disable avg email scanner" will show you how and will also give you your options.i would do that and then post back if you need any more advice.
