Epson DX4400 scanner driver problem with Vista

  Flankforward 18:54 20 Jan 2010

I can use my scanner perfectly with my XP netbook. But when I run the setup programme for the driver on my Vista laptop, it immediately opens the uninstall programme for Norton antivirus! The printer works fine.

Any thoughts?

Are you trying to install the driver from the disk you had for XP - if so it may not be suitable for Vista.

Download from here

the second one down (unless you have 64bit Vista) and download it to the desktop. Then double click to run it. I suggest you disable Norton while you do it.

You will probably need a couple of the others as well - the Epson Scan and Easyprint Module, and maybe the Copy from page 2.

Yes, I had tried disabling Norton. What happens is that the driver seems to install, but I get a message saying "Epson scan cannot be started". I've also tried downloading the productivity suite programme, but it doesn't help.
I've also found a file called BDSCANONLINE Control that is reported as damaged. Dunno what it means.
