.eml files

We receive e-mail from family in Canada. Recently We they have sent us attachments in the form of .eml files, but OE is removing them saying they are unsafe. Why is this, and is it possible to view them.

Eml files are intended to be viewed by Outlook Express, however it looks as if your OE settings are suspicious of them as any attachments can contain viruses. There should be an option to allow them in your OE option although not being in front of OE in my current PC I can't specify the necessary change -

Open Outlook Express and on the top toolbar go to Tools > Options > Security tab. In the “Virus Protection” section, untick the box beside “Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus”. Click Apply and click OK to exit. You should now be able to access all your attachments.

Eml extension is just an e-mail. If it doesn't open with a double click it should ask you what to open it with . Select msimn.
