Editing mp3 files

I wish to edit some mp3 music tracks ,just simple removal of overlong introduction or applause. I want software which is simple to use. I know a multitude of programmes exist but the idea of trying different programmes which fail to do the job daunts me. What do you use to tidy up your mp3 files?. Cheers

Mptrim will allow you to trim off space from the start / end of your tracks click here

Audacity is a good freeware audio editor click here you need the LAME encoder to work with mp3s with that program you can find it on the same page.
