E-mail attachment is iTunes!!

  nabbot17 15:10 21 Feb 2010

Every e-mail attachment I receive is the iTunes logo and when clicked on it opens iTunes website. I had this problem before and it was solved by someone who went into somewhere on the computer and deleted something. This happens when I sync my iPhone with iTunes. Anybody had this problem too, can anyone help me?

I have the the exact same thing. All e-mail attachments (paper clip)when opened have iTunes logo in front of actual attachment info, and it opens iTunes when i click on it. If anyone has any idea's on how to correct this i would appreciate it. I have a iPod touch not iPhone.

It might be something to do with 'File Associations'
has iTunes set itself as the default for all?

Just a thought as don't know answer.

From i-tunes. Followed the instructions and got it fixed. Here is what they said:
1.Click the start menu & select run.
2.In the resulting dialog, type "regedit"(without the quotes) and click ok
3.Click the plus sign next to HKEY_CLASSES)ROOT to expand the tree.
4.Click the plus sign next to MIME.
5.Click the plus sign next to Database.
6.Select ContentType to highlight it.
7. On the right side of the window look for "extension". Right click extension and select Delete from the shortcut menu.

This fixed my problem. Hope it works for you!!!
