DVD vido unwatchable in WMP/Nero/Power DVD

Hello folks,
I have just tried watching (on my PC) a DVD movie that I rented from a video store. It plays fine on the DVD player attached to the TV but when I try to watch on the PC the intro is fine and then as soon as the movie proper starts the video becomes torn up horizontally and is unwatcheable.
The audio stays OK.
I am using WMP 10 with all codec updates.
Same thing happens with Nero Player and Power DVD.
NVidia Video card drivers are up to date.
Any suggestions?

Title should read DVD Video ...
Sorry, finger trouble.

Am working on this problem with windows media player. Are you receiving any error code and what codecs do you have installed.

You can download windowsxp codec check utility direct from microsoft.

Also do you get a drm error ( Digital rights management or Key Exchange failure

Thanks for the reply. I have run the MS codec check utility and it shows
Nero video.ax and
Cyberlink clvsd.ax
as both being incompatible.
I am not getting any error codes or drm errors.
Does this help at all?

I just downloaded Media Player Classic v6.4.8.7 and it works fine.
So, at least I can watch whilst I try to figure out what's wrong with the other DVD player software on my machine!

I just downloaded the NVidia Pure Video Decoder, trial version (I think they want money for it after 30 days !) and Windows Media Player is now playing the DVD perfectly !
