DVD rewritable won’t recognise disk

  MuDelta 14:49 22 Jan 2007

I have a DVD-CD writer from an old computer which worked in it. I have fitted it into my present machine and it is recognised by the system and The driver is said to be working OK and I can find no updated drivers from Microsoft. However when I put any disk in and try to view slides or listen to music I get the message “please insert a disk in he drive”. The My Computer Screen does not show either the size of the material on the disk or the size of the disk. In other words, it does not recognise the presence of the disk .

Is the drive done for or what can I do make it behave?

Possibly dead laser,or even it does not like the media being used.

Have you tried a cd/dvd that has been bought from the shop ?

You could try this fix click here
