DVD region coding

I have an emachines 210 with windows XP. As i have both region 1 and 2 DVDs in my collection, i would like to play them both on my pc. However, after a couple of changes, the computer has locked itself into region 1. I don't mind if it has to be locked, but most of my discs are region 2 and it was not made clear that you can only change the region a small number of times. Can anyone help me set the pc to region 2?

In the device manager check what DVD you have, IE. make and model..
Then do a "google" along the lines ...
"region free hack"+your DVD drive...
You should be able to free it so it can play either.....

It will depend on the maker of the DVD drive - there are programs out there which can make it region free, but they all involve a little risk.

click here for DVD Genie, if it is a software issue. More likely it is hardware based. Have a look at the manufacturer site for your DVD drive and see if they suggest anything.
