Possibly your player does not support the format what are the discs + or - the -format being the most supported. Also how have you burnt them as dvd video or data dvd

  johnnyrocker 09:36 27 Jun 2007

is the dvd rw?

  Stuartli 09:41 27 Jun 2007

Have the disks been Finalised?

  andyopera 10:02 27 Jun 2007

what do you mean by finalised?
the dvd is rw
discs are tdk dvd-r 16x
hope this helps

  johnnyrocker 10:04 27 Jun 2007

that is likely your problem, check if your player will support dvd+ or dvd-r and use the correct type.

hi had similiar prob,in mine it was because it needed cleaning bought a dvd drive cleaner(the one with the brushes works best)had to run it about 10 times but that done the trick and my drive would play rw again, good luck bluey

my dvd is only 1 week old

in responce to johnnyrockers reply

in the very courner of it.

i would like to no what the differance is though

dvd + & dvd - are two different formats - you must have the correct formats for your player. However, most moderm player will support both types. However, you also nmeed to check that the reader supports the software formats of your files.

The most likely reason is that your disk has not been finalised. When burning a dvd you normally get the option to Finalise the disk i.e. Close the disk so that nothing else can be burned to it - if the dvd is not closed then it will not play on a normal dvd player, only on a PC.

That was why I asked if the disk had been Finalised?

However, don't use Rewrite (RW) disks - they are not as reflective as a - or +R disk and many drives have problems reading them. It's also more expensive using RW disks.
