DVD laptop problem

  stephenhills 11:45 08 Sep 2008

Recently I find that when playing a DVD on my Compaq Presario 2100 it is jerky, and the sound is not synchronised with the picture. I thought perhaps there was some dirt in the drive, so used a CD head cleaner. The problem remains. I have borrowed a Jackrabbit external DVD drive - and a DVD played through this USB device is also jerky. I tested the Jackrabbit on my PC and it worked fine. The problem is therefore presumably not the DVD drive (which incidentally works fine with music CDs and CD-ROM data). Can anyone suggest where the problem may lie please ? Thanks

Stunning advice - thank you. Usual programmes - Windows Media Player, Real Player, unable to cope - but this VLC that you recommended runs all DVD's perfectly. Obviously nothing wrong with the laptop at all. Many thanks - great forum.
