DVD Internal Drive Region settings

  DJ-Garry 21:45 18 Feb 2007

Hi guys.
How can I check which region my laptop's DVD writer is set to and how can I set it to R1 if it's not?
Many thanks, Garry.

This is dodegy ground messing with the region settings.
If i remember correctly, you only get 4 chances and thats it.
Though there is a very techincal way of resetting these,it involves editing the registry to great depths.

Right click the dvd drive in MY Computer/Properties/Hardware/Select the drive/properties/Dvd Region.

I dont have anything in that location that says DVD region. Only something that says Location and that says:
Location 0 (0)
Does that mean its region free? If it does why did a movie I used NTI DVD Creator to burn, turn out as region 1 only?
Cheers again.

Ok Gaz try this way

right click my computer/properties/Hardware/device manager/expand the + key under the cd/dvd drives/right click the drive and properties
Is the dvd region showing now ?

if not,i can only assume your dvd burning suite has changed the settings.

Ok found it. It says its region 2 with 4 changes left so thats ok.
Cheers, Garry

Remember that is only 3 changes really as the 4th has to be back to your main region.
