dvd heating

my dvd rom is heating up after using for awhile anyone help

Any mechanical movement (spinning) will generate heat, coupled with the workings of the laser it is bound to heat up, Does your question suggest it is getting very hot.

It may be generic to the optical drive you are useing, there may be a change in airflow inside your PC or it maybe the drive is faulty, plus of course the more you use it the warmer it will get, i have a
philips DvD player for my TV and when you take the disc out it is "as you say" hot.
has the drive stopped working properly...
