DVD drive disabled in Control Panel

  interzone55 21:20 03 Sep 2003

I've just bought a new BTC 5224i CDRW and had a few problems (every other boot it wasn't found by Windows or Nero) so updated the firmware from BTC's website.

Now the drive works fine, but it's killed my DVD (a 2 year old Samsung SD-616F), it is showing as Disabled in control panel, and when I try to enable it I get a message about Windows being unable to enable the hardware due to resource conflicts.

How do I change the IRQs in Win XP-Pro?

btw DVD - Master, CDRW - Slave

have you tried putting the dvd on the same channel, as slave to your h/d.?

Maybe changing the jumpers so that the cdrw is the master, and dvd slave.!

I may try that.

I have 2 hard drives, one master, one slave, so will need much faffing around with cables in my Tiny (both name & dimensions) case.

I thought that CDRW was supposed to be slave & the DVD master.
Although there are many conflicting philosphies on this topic.

Oh well, guess I'll have to open the case again...

Thanks very much

It worked, I actually swapped the drives round in the case & made the CDRW the master & the DVD slave. Switched back on & the DVD drive is there in all it's glory.
