Dual boot XP & W7

  iqs 09:57 07 Feb 2010

In the past I have set up many dual boots with XP and Vista.
But the problem has been when I wanted to uninstall one of the installed OS.Had issues with the Vista boot loader, ending up reinstalling XP.

I'm not very knowledgeable of editing the Boot.INI,and usually just amended the time the 0 for time to list of OS's,it's easier..

Is there an app which will take over a multi boot,so if I decide to uninstall an OS,there is no reinstalling any of the OS's and no editing of the Boot.INI.

Thank you

Just been reading about the F8 BBS (BIOS boot screen).
From what I understand,if I install W7 on a different HDD,only this drive connected to the MB when installed. Then connect the HDD with XP,if I press F8 I should get the option to chose which HDD to boot and not an OS.

Any thoughts please?

Forgot to add,its not the option in the BIOS for the boot sequence, apparently its a different option via F8??

Have never seen or heard of it before today..

I have created a dual boot with XP and Windows 7 on two seperate hard drives.
I had both drives connected at the time and installed XP first then 7 on the second hard drive.
When i switch on now i am automatically presented with a option of Windows 7 ( default ) or XP.

I had to rename it XP from "Earlier version of windows" using Easy bcd
