Is this a virus or a trojan?

Any idea of how to get rid of it? It apparently has infected all files in a 10 April Restore file which is no loger available to use (not on my computer BTW, asking on behalf of someone).

My reaction as well when I read the Aladdin page!

Disable System Restore. This will get rid of the file(s). NB this will delete all restore points. Then do a virus scan, remove any nasties thn re-enable System Restore click here

Surprisingly AVG detected dropper.delf (although Aladdin says that Vandals are not usually detected by Anti Virus programs) After consignit it to the Vault it was detected again in the Restore files!

There is a way to delete just the infected restore point, a bit in depth but pretty easy

Here goes

read the report log in AVG and look for the file name and containing folder of the infected restore folder. it should be something like this

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{03437861-E2CE-405B-AAF1-0F02C8C6F463}\RP13\"name of infected file goes here"

1. open My Computer

2. on the file menu click Tools/Folder Options

3. then click the tab View

4. scroll down to the setting "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)"

5. remove the tick

6. cancell the warning message that appears

7. click apply

8. double click Drive C:

9. double click "System Volume Information"

10. look for the RP number that matches the infected file.

11 right click and choose delete

12 accept any warnings

13 retrace the steps to put the tick back in "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)"

hope this helps
