drivers - sound blaster live 5.1

  wfulton_2121 10:24 25 Apr 2010

hi all,

iv just installed windows 7 and my creative sound blaster live 5.1 sound card is not recognised in device manager.

From what i can see there is no longer any support for this device so i was just wondering if there is a generic type driver that will work with the sound card?I

thanks for your help

i have given up to the creative sound blaster! Iv read more than once that it will not work with windows 7! not yet anyway!

So i decided to try and use the onboard sound card, iv enabled it in BIOS but still windows 7 will not have it!!! the card is just a plain simple ac97 audio but i cannot get it working at all!

Any help please??

Your Mobo P5P800-VM was manufactured quite some years ago, only XP drivers were available(not even under Vista).

You can try downloading this XP audio driver click here and try installing if it's not successful then try reinstalling using Win7's suggested setting.

Otherwise your other option will be getting this Win7 compatible sound card from click here

I had the same problem and ended up buying a new audio card suitable for Vista and Win 7. It only cost about £14 or so not a lot it turned out not worth the bother to investigate the the missing driver problem with Creative. I recon the Creative card is now so old it is not worth turning out new drivers for it. That is the price of modernisation!

Just in case, have you tried Windows update?
