DOS Attack?

Just had a phone call from my boss who is a big technophobe and he appears to have become a victim of a DOS attack. He runs the business from home and uses a PC which is not networked. This morning he has received hundreds of spam emails despite spam filtering.

I haven't come across this before so any advice on preventing more junk being down loaded would be much appreciated.

He's referring to a DDOS attack which is usually performed against websites click here not individual home computers.

Getting lots of spam all of sudden is unpleasant but not enough to suspect an "attack"...

Is there any reason why he should suddenly get hundreds one day and they are still coming?

Thanks for that. I have forwarded the link to him.
