Dont understand speeds

just done a speed tet with

result = Direction
Actual Speed
True Speed (estimated)

Downstream 1538 Kbps (192.3 KB/sec) 1661 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 241 Kbps (30.1 KB/sec) 260 Kbps (inc. overheads)

my speed is 1 Mb with BT

I don't understand those for a 1mb connection! The downstream speeds look exceptional to my untrained eye!
These are my results for 1mb connection with Pipex:-
Downstream 905 Kbps (113.1 KB/sec) 977 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 243 Kbps (30.4 KB/sec) 262 Kbps (inc. overheads).

Try testing with somebody else such as click here (I just got 867 Kbps downstream with them, which is what I would expect from a 1mbs connection).

"my speed is 1 Mb with BT"

Maybe you are now on the 2mb from BT - they are upgrading people.

The speeds you quote are for a 2Mb/s connection.

BT is upgrading all of its customers to 2Mb/s, or to the highest speed your phone line will take, so it looks like you've been upgraded.

The speed upgrade won't cost you anymore money.

The speed is never exactly 1MB, 2MB etc but, as is always made clear, "up to".

You could run the test several times very closely together and get a very different result on each occasion.

we have only had BB for a week, i hope we dont have to pay any extra. Looking at my order confirmation it says 1 MB service.
