DNS Error

  richcarr 18:34 26 Mar 2008

I can connect to a wireless connection but it won't connect to the internet. I have tried restarting the router and the other 2 computers work fine. I have restarted the DNS service and tried flushing it in command prompt.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

In Control Panel > Network Connections, right-click on your connection's icon, choose Properties, scroll down and click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", then click the Properties button. Make sure the options "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" and "Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically" are both ticked, click OK and OK to exit.

I've tried that to no avail.

How do you know it's a DNS problem? If you can't connect to the internet at all with one machine, DNS is not an issue.
More info on your ISP, hardware etc would be helpful

My DELL PC only connects via IP address, it fails to resolve names. Win XP SP2, 1Gig mem, 2.8GHz P4, connected to net via NetGear 834G modem/router, which is DNS server. Why would this failure arise?

It woud be better, and less confusing, if you started your own thread.
