diy portable hard drive

Hi guys, a freind from work runs his own mobile disco in his spare time. He runs the whole show from one laptop computer. He has a program on the laptop which stores all his songs in MP3 form and if anybody has a request, he just types in the artist name or song title and it gives him a list of tunes to pick.
The problem is, he is growing this list of tunes evey week and is running out of room on the hard drive. The answer, he has been offered a portable hard drive of 140GB for £160.00. He has been informed by another person you can just buy a hard drive cheaper and get a kit to make it portable at a cheaper option. He has seen a Samsung unit of 160GB for £85.00, so the benefits are obvious.
Any advice greatly recieved...Fred.

Also, make sure the drive spins at at least 7200rpm, because dependant on the software he's using to DJ with, it might take longer to load the players with an external drive.

That's just what I was looking for.

Good point about 7200rpm, never thought about that.
Just thanks a lot though....the Helproom comes to the rescue once again.
