disk check on start up

HI

Does anyone know why when I start up PC runing XP I get a blue screen saying windows is CHecking disk F. I can skip it by preessing any key. I have let it run sevral times now but it still does it. Only started today> I have not alterd Pc in any way or added any new programs.

I would go to Start>Run and type in msconfig and see if you have the machine set to selective start-up as this is the only thing I can think of that would force a check disk, which it sounds like it is doing on boot up. If it is set to that change it back to normal start-up and it should be OK. Sorry if this does not help, someone with more knowledge than me will along in a short while to help you out.
