Disabling Onboard Graphics

  Optik 14:41 25 May 2006

I recently purchased a Sapphire 9800 PRO AGP and am having trouble installing it as i can't uninstall the onboard graphics.

The model is the ATI Radeon 9100 IGP and my motherboard is the ASUS P4R800-VM with AMI BIOS.

I know the onboard graphics is disabled through the BIOS but I just can't find how.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Motherboard manual if available.

Often onboard sound and graphics are linked together or are disabled together in the Bios - depends on the Bios provider.

Unfortunately I don't have my motherboard manual, anyone know specifically where I have to go in BIOS or can it be done in Device Manager?

manual click here

To set your AGP as primary boot graphics device.boot into the BIOS and select the "Advanced" menu.

From there select "Chipset" and then "Northbridge Configuration".

Now select "Init. Graphic Adapter Priority" and follow the instructions in the right hand panel to select AGP/PCI and then press F10 to save the change and exit the BIOS.

That should do the trick.

are you sure graphics needs to be disabled in the bios. onboard graphics are usually auto disabled when a graphics card is inserted in the motherboard slot.
