Disabled Links

If it`s not firewalls, not Windows Defender, not Windows DEP, not McAfee Site Adviser, is there anything else that could prevent links from the full version of an installed program from working?
I`m thinking of something specific to AOL, some kind of spam filter setting maybe?

How about cookies, You forgot to mention them.

Thanks buteman,
No. it`s not cookies. They are not disabled on my pc. I checked add-ons too while I was there but all are enabled.
I`m wondering now if it has something to do with those advanced settings in IE.

If you mean that links are not working in Internet Explorer click here

That is

http:// windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm

without the space after //.

VoG tm, many thanks. A quick check of your suggested page makes me think I may be gone for some time!
The particular settings I was thinking of were those to do with `Allow active content from CDs/files to run on my pc (IE 7).

Links can be restored by ticking "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default browser", then MAKE DEFAULT.

These are in INTERNET OPTIONS, programs tab.
