different volume for scratch disc in Photoshop

be grateful for clarification. Just set up P'shop 7 on new PC XP( 256Mb Ram, single HD 20Gb, no partition). On opening above I got message recommending setting primary scratch vol on diff volume......may I ask how to do this( seeing as I don't have another HD nor is the one I have partitioned. Do I need to? Most of my images will be no more than 15Mbs, with nothing running in b'ground

If you cannot then don't worry about it - it is a suggestion only - but may improve performance somewhat.

It is suggested that the scratch file be on a different volume to the pagefile which windows uses.

Thanks for the re-assurance. Something to bear in mind if I go "photoshop - intense"!
