a different kind of question

Hi, everyone, as I say a different kind of question
but as I can find little help elsewhere I thought I
would try this forum.
Around July this year I purchased XP pro from Ebay
It was sold as genuine but was a pirate copy.
Returned it for a refund which I never got.
I paid by cheque.
After reporting this to ebay and obviously so have others he has been visited by the police and Trading
Standards or so he says.

He is now offering a full refund if I supply my Paypal details (Not sure what details he requires here)
As he now has my name&Email address and my home address
I am somewhat reluctant to supply this info.
I just asked him to
send me back a cheque but no response.

Any views on this one guys?

Can you not get ebay to do the recovery they did for me and the guy was in Hong kong. Not sure he could do much wrong with your paypal details as he'd need your password but you never know.He should honour the cheque return as its not as if you payed by paypal

I would do as eedcam suggest, contact eBay. There is certainly no need for the so-called seller to have your PayPal details, even if he can't do anything with them - I think he is just trying to string you along.

Thanks for your replies, I did report this seller to Ebay months ago.

You say that the seller has been visited by police and trading standards, he/she is in the UK? Forget Paypal and take action, if worthwhile, through small claims court.
