Dialler Dilemma

  colrob 00:26 29 Mar 2003

Hi folks

Think I have got an unwanted dialler on my pc. Sometimes getting redirected to ads for porn sites. AVG 6 (the freeone),Ad-aware 5.83 does not detect any problems and looking in downloaded programme files does not show anything unusual. I should have said, no unwanted icons on the desktop and nothing added to programmes menu. When connected to the internet, internet explorer appears to be running slow - slower when closing a page and scolling is now not a smooth continuous action but appears to cause the page to break up momentarilly ( I have probably not explained this well).

Running Win 98se and ie5.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Update Ad-aware to V6 click here and update it.

This is considered better so click here and update it.

Download Adaware 6 from the lavasoft site, also Spybot Search and Destroy, if there is a dialler on your PC, download Spywareblaster, that should keep it at bay. Install, update and run all three applications.

Thanks Powerless and MAJ for your quick responses. I will give these a try and see if I get a better result.

Could also look in Dialup networking folder as some diallers go there and run msconfig from run box and see what it the startup list as most dialers add an entry there 2.
