Dialers on PC how do I delete them..please

  Shamrock7 12:28 10 Oct 2003

Running windowsME System restore turned off until I can solve this problem.

when I ran AVG last night, it found nothing.

After the latest update this morning it found 5 virii and got rid of 3 and said to move others to 'the vault'. This I did.

I then ran Ad aware and it detected the following dialers:

Coulomb Dialer
e-group Dialer
TIB Browser

My home page was directed to a website called '777'.

I have now installed 'StartPage Guard' but cannot find out how to delete the dialers.

I've had a look in Google, downloaded 'The Cleaner', this detected nothing.

I've also run spyblaster blaster and spybot search and destroy and body guard. All found nothing.

I rebooted my PC and StartPageGuard popped up to say a hijack attempt had been made on my homepage.

Adaware says now 'no objects found'.

So, can anyone point me in the right direction to deleting these dialers.

many thanks,

Spybot is better at getting Diallers.

Also where these diallers found in the C:\volume information\restore folder??

Hi Both,

Vog, I checked out the Pest Control site and looked for the registery entrances using regedit. Neither were found for the TIB dialer and the Coloumd drialer. The .ddl files for e-group were also not to be found.

I've also downloaded and run the evaluation version of Pestcontrol and its only found spyware.

Does this mean that I've managed (somehow?) to get rid of them?

Jester2k II I've installed 'Spybot' and run it.

I've also re-run Adaware and it has detected nothing.

Is it now safe to turn my system restore back on?

many thanks to you both.

ps my neighbour suggested this site because he said your all very helpful and knowledgable....he is, as always right.

Looks like it. Did you update AdAware and Spybot before running?

I've just created a new thread for just this type of problem

I suggest the Norton site may be best for finding your dialler(s)

i put 090 into google and found a german comp that stopes dialers before they dial out but its not in english but if you play with it it works

SpywareBlaster click here

English and the best - stops nearly 1000 dialers and spyware from getting on your system

Just a thought............I ran adaware for 6 months fully updated and it always reported a relatively clean system.....The odd spyware popped up now and again and was promptly removed.

Just out of boredom I installed BPS spyware remover and scanned my system.......The result came back as 165 spyware infected files!!!!!

I wouldnt touch that adaware again if you payed me.

BPS Spyware Remover - the one thats a reversed engineered ("Stolen") version of AdAware 5.x and uses a hacked copy of Spybot's encrypted target database??

BPS Spyware Remover - the one you have to PAY for?

BPS Spyware Remover - the one that magically finds spyware that no other does?

I'll stick with AdAware and Spybot...

SpyBot Detects BPS Spyware Remover as

Company: BulletProofSoft
Product: BPS Spyware Remover
Threat: Malware

Uses a stolen Spybot-S&D database and is therefore a copyright infringement.
