hello people, when i set a picture as my desktop background, it turns a dark blue colour, not a huge problem, but would like to get it sorted

cheers in advance

Does this happen to all images or only to one image? My guess is that the image has a transparent background that is dark blue. When saved as BMP the transparency is lost

And what Operating System are you using?

hello pesala, i actually posted this for my dad (bingo6063) he's on xp home, and i think it is in fact just 1 picture. Is there a way he could change the transparency background?

Open it in IrfanView click here and click the Information button to find out if it is indeed a picture with transparency. By default, the viewing window is black, so the image wiill have a black background when viewed in IrfanView if it is transaprent and if view transparency is checked in Properties, Viewing.

From there you can change the background colour to whatever you want.
