Desktop Shortcut - Icons

  NotSureBoutThis 14:30 07 Oct 2006

On my desktop I have shortcut icons, each time I switch on my comp, some of my icons appear like this:

Any idea how I can get the icons to appear showing the correct website?

I'm confused as to what you're asking.

Icons appear like what?

Icon showing a website? - what do you mean? - do you mean what the icons link to, or what they look like?

I tried to copy & paste the icon, but it does not work, however, some of my icons show the name of the website, for example Google, has a "G" in the icon, aol has the "AOL" symbol in the icon etc, other icons do not show the name of the website, they just have an icon box, hope I have explained myself better

Thanks for the link

I tried that, restarted my computer, and the shortcut icons still do not appear.

Thank you.

However, I'm embarrassed to say, I'm a complete novice regarding computers.

I just about know how to turn one on and off.

However, I folowed your advice, and, opened that link, and to be honest, it frightened me to death, I haven't a clue which link to click onto.

Apologies, I double checked and noticed the link.

This shows how much of a novice I really am.

Once again, many thanks

It seems to me that you are trying to place shortcuts to favourite websites on your desktop.

If so, why?

Why not put them in your Favourites within Internet Explorer (or whichever browser you use)?

Brilliant idea.

I had never thought about it before.

Task completed now.

Thanks everyone very much for your advice.
