Desktop Icon layouts for individual profiles

  Evolution 09:51 12 Feb 2006

I am using a Dell laptop running XP Home (SP2), which has 4 user profiles set up.

I've noticed however that whenever I install a new application on my profile, the desktop icon appears not just on my desktop, but on all other users as well.

If I then delete the icon from the other users desktops, it is also deleted from mine.

Two questions.

Is there any way to ensure that the desktop icon only appears on the desktop for the profile where the application is installed?

Is there a way of preventing a change made on one desktop from affecing others?

Start/my computer/local disk C/documents & settings.
You'll find a list of all the users on your computer.
In each one you'll find desktop.Copy and/or delete whichever icons you want. The account all users has the shortcuts that are common to all users (sic).
