Desktop Buying Help

  Lat3000 17:29 02 Dec 2007

Hi, I am looking for a desktop to buy for christmas around the £500 - £600 price range, mainly to be used for gaming (strategy games, c&c, supreme commander etc.).

I really am new when it comes to buying computers and I am becoming extremely confused as to which PC to buy. I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions please.

Hi there,

It can be a bit of minefield out there and there really isn't any help for the a new user.

One site I used when I first started out was click here it's an excellent company that build high quality PC's. The key things to look out for are high spec graphics cards (google them if you're not sure) Good RAM (at least 2gb) and a high hard drive capacity. Beware however, because some of the computers don't come preloaded with operating systems, but they do quote a price with or without the OS's. I hope this is of some help.

The top end at the moment are the ones below: Novatech tend to use Nvidia, I use them myself for my PC and it has never failed.

Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT

ATI Radeon HD 3870

ATI Radeon HD 3850

Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS

Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS (this is a great graphics card and now relatively cheap)

This website will expalin the best to you click here
