Desk top does not 'speak' to BT home hub 11

  SparkyJack 09:18 15 Jul 2014

A desk top on Vita has been put back to XP.

In vista mode it accessed internet by wireless via donlge and later by LAN.

In each case the router excess/code was entered as required in the appropriate field.

This time the XP control panel internet set up acknowledges the connection.

But I don't see where to access the router code.

There are 3 other dvices operating wirelessly.

Running the BT hub 11 CD, comes up 'no connection found'

Such a load of contradictions

What am I missing ?

If you are connecting via ethernet cable you don't need a code, it is only for wireless security.

FB Thank you, alaanrwood seems to have resolved the wireless issue, asccthe connexion is LAN.

The problem then is, XP says connection made, but 'server not found, and TT says no equipment connected.

Keepbonbpoking I guess J

  1. check device manage for exclamation marks against network card drivers (has a driver been loaded)?

  2. if network card working check cable connections to router

  3. In IE tools connection tab make sure lan settings are selected and Automatically detect settings is ticked.

Check you have a valid DNS server selected or auto select.
