Dell-Ultrasharp-U2412M Monitor

  redbarron 15:53 23 Sep 2012

I am thinking of buying one of these monitors but would like some information please from anyone that owns one.

This monitor has a screen ratio of 16:10 - Does it display everything in full screen or do you sometimes get a top and bottom black bar.

I have U2410 and a U2711 and I have not seen a black bar at all.I cannot say it would never happen but I have not experienced it but then again the 271 is 16.9.

Thank you for your reply.

I do have another question that hopefully someone can help me with regarding screen seatings for this 16:10 screen ratio monitor.

I have been told that I will get full screen viewing provided my PC has the correct driver and is set to 1920 x 1200 pixels. Although I will get top and bottom black bars when playing most movies, which are either 16:9 or 21:9 ratio, unless you zoom in with your media player and cut the sides off.

That's fine...but

My display setting in Start/Control panel will only go up to 1600 X 1200 pixels. Does this make this monitor a non starter for purchasing or can 1920 x 1200 pixels be achieved from a driver or other setting somewhere.

I assume you are loking at the settings on your current monitor not the Dell? The Dell will show the correct setting in control panel. There is little point in showing settings that you cannot get. That is why your monitor only shows 1920 x 1200 as that is it's limit.

All Monitor Settings are In the driver for Graphics Card, but governed my the monitors ability to display them
