I have just purchase a Dell Dimension 1500 with a DEll 1905FP UltraSharp monitor. The monitor came with two cables, DVI and VGA. I used the DVI cable to hook up in the first instance, the software that came with the monitor suggested I use a screen res of 1280 x 1024, however using this screen res the text on screen didn't appear as bold or sharp as using the lower res of 1024 x 768, (I also had to starin to read some of it). I then swapped the DVI cable for the VGA but still had the same result. Is this typical? From what I've read I should be getting excellent resolutions with the higher screen res. Maybe I'm expecting too much? any thoughts?

What is the screen refresh rate set at?

Pretty sure it's 60hz

Try it at 75hz.

Have tried at 75hz and performance seemed better, higher resolution still quite 'intense' though and I have toned down to 1152 x 864.
