Dell 1000

Hi guys
can you help? my dell 1000 starts up just fine,but then takes forever to completly start,it seem to be loading SKYPE which takes about two or three mins then i can startuseing the laptop,which is running XP i know that the memory is pathetic ..i understand that the memory is not upgrade able ??

Go to Skype - Tools - Options - Advanced - and untick "Start Skype when I start Windows"

What type of Dell 1000 - Inspiron, Vostro or another? Vostro take upgrade to 2GB - Inspiron only to 512MB.

Well then as I said above that model is shipped with only 256MB of RAM - but can be upgraded to 512MB. (in two slots)

Go to click here and run the scanner - it will confirm how much you have - and the upgrade details.

It needs to have PC-2100 type memory - Crucial should detect that for you.
