Deleting all pgms/files

May seem like an odd question but I am throwing out a PC (recycling I should say) and I want to wipe out the HD beforehand, namely files that may contain personal information. Is there an easy way to do this?

Depends on your level of parania :-)

1 - format it and say good bye

2 - get soemthing like eraser click here and it will wipe everything off

3 - take out disk and hit it with a big hammer

You can do a low level format of the drive. This in effect put the drive back to the manufactures settings. click here for further information.

That should be paranoia and something...

Thanks guys..........if I don't use any of the recommended links then I think the 'big hammer' method may suffice (not to mention being a bit of fun).
