Defrag utility anyone?

  Legolas 17:58 06 Sep 2003

Does anyone know of a good free defragger.

The one built into win XP seems to take an age to defrag my 40GB harddrive.

It'll still take an age to defrag a 40 gig drive, but Diskeeper Lite will be a little faster than the built-in XP defragger. It takes about 4 hrs to defrag my 20 gig with it.

Any defrag utility for WIn 98 SE?

  expertec 18:44 06 Sep 2003

Window$ 98 has a built in defrag and according to click here Diskeeper Lite will run on 98.

I guess you'll just have to go out and buy Norton Speeddisk. (Part of the Norton Utilities package as well).

20 Gb drive, 80% full, defragged in about 45 minutes !.

Mind you if you let it get fragged too far, it might take 4 hours as well.

Whatever you end up using, use it regularly, it'll run that much faster.

You can use the ME defrag.exe to replace the 98 defrag.exe instructions click here if that's any use ?
