Windows XP Sp2, running a game called Sonic Adventure DX, won't start game because a message shows: debugger detected - close down and re-start. Windows NT users. Having the WinIce/SotIce service installed means you are running a debugger!
This PC is XP, not NT, and what happens is that the PC shuts down on clicking the box containing the message, and I then need to re-start the PC to use it again.Any answers to this, please. I have used Anti-Malware, etc., to clean up the PC, but no nasties were detected.
Thanks, Woolwell. I have recently updated drivers, but I am unsure about Divx. Is this not normally supplied with authoring software?
I did not realise it was necessary to have it installed as a separate piece of software or perhaps you could advise this ignorant person!
Q: When I try to launch the game I get the following error:"Debugger detected - please close it down and restart. Windows NT users: Please note that having the WinIce/SoftIce service installed means that you are running a debugger.
A: This error is caused by DivX 5.1. The issue you have mentioned is a bug in this release of the DivX codec. The codec is actually what`s showing the error, and shutting down because it is erroneously detecting the software as a debugger. You can resolve the issue by updating to DivX 5.1.1 at the DivX website and you will no longer have this problem.
It wasnt for sonic but another game, but it seemed relevant.
