Dead PSU?

  nemgreen 00:12 21 Jul 2008

My motherboard has the CMOS reset header back to back with a fan header. When trying to reset the BIOS settings, I managed to put the jumper across the +12V and GND of the fan header (middle aged, fading eye sight !).
I now have a PC that won't POST !

My LAN card LED is lit - so something in the PSU is alive (eg not a fuse problem)

Any suggestions as to what to try next to diagnose which component I've killed ?

You may be lucky and just have blown the fuse in the PSU or just the PSU.
I would be tempted to try another PSU before condemning the motherboard.

The PSU is fine (thanks for the link buteman) so looks like the motherboard.

Maybe now is the time to upgrade !!!
