ddr ram speed & Sata... help pliz

I have been loking into building my own pc, i hav decided on the gigabyte ga-8ipe which supports ddr200/266/300/400 and p4 fsb 400/533/800. Is the speed of the ram dependand on the spead of the fsb or anything to do with the processor?

also is sata hard drives worth the extra 15% price difference compared to ata133/100?

i use a sata drive and personally i like it.but i would only reccomend it if u can set up raid, thats when youll notice the most difference i think
