Data Transfer and Operating System Change

I am buying a new pc and need to transfer my data across. My present operarting system is windows 2000 professional and the new PC will be XP. Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Easiest is with a USB memory stick.

But give details of what programs you use- email is generally the most complex.

If you have a lot of data to transfer between computers, why not setup a quick Workgroup network which works really well and share a common directory then toss all of your files over...

Put the old hard disk in the new computer and copy the data across. Either leave the disk in for additional capacity or return it to the old computer.
