I want to access data from a hd that i have connected to a windows pc. The hd is a mac formatted external drive. Although the hd isnt in the list in COMPUTER, it is recognised in the BIOS and also in DEVICE MANAGER. The problem is my mates mac laptop for some reason will not recognise this HD anymore but he brought it to me and this windows vista pc does. Is there anyway i can now access this through some software and copy the whole drive to a new external that is also connected to this windows pc. Thanks, crossing my fingers.

Don't believe that's possible as it is completely different file structure that windows can't/won't read.
