d link / talktalk - powerline adapter

Hi I have 2 d-link / talktalk DHP-300AV powre line adapters that work perfectly together and have just bought 2 netgear XAVB1301 power line adapters, even tho the 2 different manufacturers are on the HomePlug list they don't want to cross connect. Both units work perfectly together as a point to point, downloaded the connection utilitys but they software won't recognise either powerline adapters , did think I might be able to get into the config of the adapters, there were 2 different software packages for netgear and 1 for d link but not sure if there is a difference between the talktalk ( d-link ) dhp-300av version and the d-link dhp-300.

can anybody shed any light on this problem before I shell out for 2 more netgear units cheers & thanks in advance G ../
