This is a generic reply, since you have given no details of the CD drive, such as its make and model, and what version drivers you are running for it, and also what version of Windows. Open Device Manager, and right-click your CD drive. Select Properties, and look for a tick box called Auto Insert Notification (or similar). Make sure this is checked, but if you cannot find this option, then your drivers are out of date, and you may need to find new drivers.
