Cut & paste mishap with defrag

  cmcm76 15:21 27 May 2010

My husband was trying to back up my entire Cdrive and he did a cut and paste into the Iomega. Unfortunately-nothing pasted but a short cut back to my cdrive. He did not check to see if the files were there and then performed a defrag. Is there any chance I can recover my data? Oddly enough some folder stayed - and all my internet favorites. But everything else seems to be gone (pictures, finance stuff, etc)

So far, I have tried...
1. System restore, did nothing.

2. A few CD undelete programs and nothing.

3. Looking for it on the Iomega - nothing

Really appreciate anyone's help. This is my entire life - 20yrs of files. Shame on me for never backing up before. What a valuable lesson.

Thank you!

Have you looked in recycle bin or run a search through the whole pc?

If the files have gone you can retrieve them with PC Inspector click here

Defragmenting a drive does not delete files it moves and reorganises them into gontiguous files so the deletion must have been caused by some other operation
