I have a folder in my E drive that I would like to make a virtual drive (J) for a temporary period. Is this possible?I am currently doing it by having the folder on an external HDD and changed the letter of this drive to J.Thanks.
Use Windows help - search for create virtual drive, read about the SUBST command, and see if this helps.
I just tried it and it works (winXP) - open a command prompt, type in the command , and hey presto it appears in Explorer (much to my amazement, as I'd almost forgotten this old DOS command.)
I had already tried the windows help, but it didn't find anything for virtual drives.I'm on XP home, are you on home or pro?
XPPro -Open a command box and typesubst j: c:/path [enter]where j: is the drive you want and c:/path is the path of the folder you wantTo delete the virtual drive, typesubst j: /d [enter]In Help just search for subst it gets you straight there.
