CPU Temp

  podlod 09:30 04 Nov 2010

Hi, I have for some time now had problems with my software games, example; Total War, Fallout 3, The Witcher, etc. As before after a couple of hours the game freezes for a split second and the characters start to stutter, so I think it may be my CPU. How on my pc can I enable to read the Temp that my CPU is at, as I read that it should be between 55C and 65C maybe a little more if I am playing a game, I think mine maybe is in the region between 88C and 98C.
I have an ATI Radeon HTI 4800 series graphics card, with my spec as follows;

click here run this (Free version) then click on Sensors in the left-hand column - you can then see all your CPU Temps.

Hi, thanks for the info on the free software, a great bit of kit, really helpful.
I gave my PC a test for CPU and the results are as follows;

CPU temp = 34C
CPU core 0 = 32C
CPU core 1 = 37C
This is just running on normal after approx 10 min, so I will have to test on game later, but are these temps which are fluctuating slightly, ok?

Yes, they are fine, quite low in fact.

Two things

After an hour or so of gaming, check temps are still within spec

Is the temp of the graphics card ok? Fan ok?

Hi, after playing a couple of hours yesterday I checked the CPU on the new SIW software while the game was still running and playing up, and found that the temps had only increased approx 3 or 4 Centigrade so that cant be the prob? Today I will look at the graphics card and fan as you suggest after again a couple of hours of play and inform you of the results.
Just want to say thanks again for your help, and return to you later.

Hi again, well after a couple of hours of game play everything seems to be running around 40c, but still it makes this re-occurrence of sound and split second freezing, any ideas?
