CPU Clock & System bus speeds

I have an athlon 1200processor with 1 gig of ddr333 menory and was wondering what the bus speed should be set at.

The options for the mo/bo are 100 / 133 / or 133
it says this depends on the processor.

Thats as much as I know
anyony help on this matter

ps its currently running at 100 mhz running XP

I think the speed of the RAM is linked to the MOBO bus.I mean, I'm not sure, and somebody correct me if wrong, but your RAM may not be operating at 333 because your MOBO only goes to 133 not to the 166 which times 2 = 333. So the max you cud use is 266 (133 X 2). Set your bus speed to the max 133.

Bus speed should be 100.

If you go 133 it will run faster than it is supposed to.

Going mad
The last speed should read 166 mhz

This will all depend on the maximum bus the processer can take. Check the AMD website and set it to whatever its maximum is. I suspect that the processer wont go to 166 thus the full potential of ur RAM wont be used.

what mobo do you have. i have a kt400 and cpu and memory can be set seperately. if yours goes to 166mhz you may be able to do the same

Its a Gigabyte GA-7va.
The manual says it depends on the processor as to the bus speed.

If you increase the bus speed. The FSB in this case you will overclock that 1200. If you have a BIG cooling fan then ok, thats good.

I have the 7VA, a very good MOBO. But as Powerless is saying, setting the bus to 166 will mean overclocking. If you want to use the potential of the board get a new processer. I run an AthlonXP 1800 at 133 bus on mine

i have the ga-7vax and i have the cpu set at 133mhz and the memory is set at 166mhz. will post back after checking settings.

I Have checked the AMD Site but not knowing exactly what to look for its like a needle in a haystack.
