Whats the difference between Core Duo and Core 2 Duo?

is the newer, better performing and more efficient Intel cpu. It runs at much lower frequencies and uses less power (= less heat) and still outperforms the old versions by a good margin.
If you have a choice go for the Core 2 Duo.
