  Alwood 19:19 24 May 2004

Hi to you all.

I have a multivision PC which was supplied with its hard drive set at FAT32, which I did not know until today.
Q? How can I set this to NTFS without formating the HD. Is there a tool for doing this? I don't waqnt to loose all my data and systems installed software.
I use win hoem XP, HD is 120Gb

Go to Start > Run and type:
cmd <enter>

At the command prompt, type:
convert c: /fs:ntfs <enter>

If this is your boot drive, answer yes to all prompts,
and then it will ask you if you want to perform the
convert on next reboot.

Why would anyone want to convert FAT32 drive to NTFS?

"Why would anyone want to convert FAT32 drive to NTFS?"

They would want to if they were installing WinXP, for example, to make use of it's advantages over Fat32. To read more -
